Team and Mr.Green
Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors stated last week, “We don’t look at it as, ‘KD [Kevin Durant], you the Guy’ or ‘Steph, you the Guy.’ There ain’t no Guy.”
This is a statement about the team’s depth of talent, the Golden State Warriors have many great guys. They are world champions, and can get the job done as a team, and only as a team.
The same is true when you take on a new role in life, especially one that is so dramatic like the transition from professional sports to the next career. Most professional athletes know team is better, stronger than individual players, but have a harder time creating a trusted support team for their next phase. Yes, most have financial advisors, but that’s just the beginning of building a team. What about attorneys, physical therapists, career coaches, school counselors, CPAs?
A relevant question to ask is, “Who do I need to build a championship team?” The answers to this question will point you in the right direction. Creating your team with trusted leaders will lead you to future success.
